St. Paul's 1 - 9
Kilmainhamwood 2 - 6
St.Paul's got of the mark in the ACFL division 4 with a share of the spoils against Junior A side Kilmainhamwood on Thursday night at home in pace. K/wood started the better team and were soon 3-1 ahead after 15min. The Paul's improved somewhat in the next quarter with Anthony Moyles and A.Minch scoring some nice points, however the visitors finished the half stronger and a well finished goal just before half time had them in front 1-5 to 0-4.
The 2nd half was less than 5mins gone when the visitors struck again with another goal well finished by their lively half forward. It looked like the Paul's were heading for another defeat...but with Anthony Moyles calling the shots in the middle, St. Paul's chipped away at the lead and with 10 mins to go had got back to 4pts down.
Then Anthony Barker of St. Paul's was taken down for a penalty after one of his many trademark runs into the danger area. Paul Nestor calmly put away the spot kick (Ronaldo like)!!! The Paul's quickly leveled it and then went one up with time running out. Mind you the Paul's can thank Conor Martin in goals for making a couple of fine saves to prevent the visitors from securing victory. They did however win themselves a free 30m out in injury time, which they converted, leaving the score level at full time St.Paul's 1-9 Kilmainhamwood 2-6.
